University and College Academic Planning Schedule

The application process follows an annual cycle , based on the academic year (August to July ). To prevent delays and miss-ing out on opportunities completely , it is important to be aware of deadlines at colleges and universities or programs you are interested in.
  • Review schedules to ensure proper academic course selection
  • Plan your volunteer / community involvement activities
  • Post important dates for post-secondary application cycle
  • Reminder that  grade 12s applying to the U.S. of early September deadline for October SAT.
  • Graduating students credit checks
  • Review timetable changes
  • Completed 2022 entry UCAS (U.K.) undergraduate applications can be submitted 
  • Inform yourself about workshops for graduating students to review procedures for post-secondary application process, financial aid, scholarships, tests, essays when required, etc.
  • Inform yourself about upcoming university/college fairs and information workshops
  • Explore Universities and programs and refine lists
  • Explore Colleges and programs and refine lists
  • Access to the online College application becomes available for programs beginning in the following academic year (August to July)
  • Explore campus visits
  • Parents should explore group workshops to review procedures for post-secondary application process, financial aid, scholarships, tests when required, etc.
  • USA early decision application deadline is November 1st 
  • Get your OUAC access codes (PINs) from your home school – begin applications
  • Organize campus visits
  • Explore opportunities for scholarships, bursaries and grants. Obtain applications
  • Prepare for applications due in January
  • Deadline for Ontario high school students to submit their completed application to the OUAC.  Jan 15 (approx.)
  • Sem 1 exams
  • Grade 8 students select courses for grade 9
  • USA application for regular admission is January 1st deadline is January 1st
  • Course selection for grades 10 through 12
  •  Applications through the Ontario College Application Service are due on or before February 1st, apply on or before this date in order to receive equal consideration for admission to programs starting the following fall. After this date, colleges consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until programs are full. Applicants are encouraged to complete their applications well before this date.
  • Final semester 1 grades are submitted to OUAC and OCAS
  • Research scholarship opportunities.
  • Grade 11 students begin post-secondary planning, considering career goals and academic strengths
  • Grade 11 students applying to the U.S. start planning their applications and essays – draft and review.
  • First round of admission offers from post-secondary institutions
  • Students should check their OUAC and/or OCAS accounts for accuracy and discrepancies.
  • Start planning campus visits over March/April break.
  • Develop summer plans for activities and internships.
  • Review College/University admission decisions; review alternative choices and wait-list strategies, if  appropriate.
  • OCAS; College applicants must confirm their acceptance of an offer of admission by this date.
  • 27, 2021 The latest date all high school applicants who submitted their application by the January application deadline can expect a response from an Ontario university. This includes: an offer of admission; a refusal; or a deferral, once additional information is received.
  • Request and review summer program information and applications.
  • June 1st is the earliest date an Ontario high school student may be required to respond to an Ontario university offer of admission and give a financial commitment (e.g., registration deposit, residence deposit, etc.).
  • June 4 th is the date the Admission Information Service (AIS) opens. The AIS allows you to determine which Ontario universities still have spots available in first-year undergraduate programs.
  • OCAS; Colleges require payment of a tuition deposit in June to secure your spot in your program.
  • Sem 2 final exams
  • Consider and plan campu visits over the summer break.
  • IBDP final grades released 
  • Summer school courses to advance/ improve /replace credits
